| Lasto is fast, reliable, and easy to use. Download it and
see for yourself! Here are some of the features Lasto supports. This
list isn't all inclusive.
- Customizable security based on access rights. A
user's access is determined as a combination of the rights assigned to
them individually and the rights assigned to their group. (Functional
privilege based; a close analogy might be Local Security Policy: User
Rights Assignment in Windows)
- Groups are customizable with a name, name color, and
security access.
- Forums, Smileys, Bad Words, System settings, and so
on can all be edited "on-line" with changes saved to the database.
- Intelligent management - For example, when you delete
a forum you are presented with the option to move all threads in that
forum, delete them, etc. When you delete a group, you can choose to move
users in that group to a new one.
- "Show-me" security - In most cases, a user only sees
links to perform actions that they have permission to perform. This cuts
down on confusion and keeps the interface cleaner for users who don't
need access to advanced tasks.
- Display is totally customizable using themes and
themes can be stored on a per-user basis
- Image uploading is supported, and can be granted on a
per-user or per-group basis.
- Profiles are supported, and can be granted on a
per-user or per-group basis.
- Collapsing threads help to control listing page
clutter, and can be adjusted on a per-user basis
- [url] and [img] tags are supported, and can be
granted on a per-user or per-group basis, as can the ability to post raw
HTML.
- Comprehensive full text index search. Admins can also
click on an IP address and see recent posts from that address.
- Moderation - posts can be moderated up or down, and
can be hidden when their score reaches a certain point. Scores are
configurable, and the ability to moderate, view moderation, clear
moderation, protect posts from moderation, and so on can be granted on a
per-user and per-group basis for each individual right. Moderation
can also be disabled.
- Long threads can be "broken" into multiple pieces
(for example if one part of the discussion veers off into another area,
it can be "broken" out into a new thread.)
