Basic Thread Tasks

There are several things you can do with a thread, based on your security level:
  • Move - Click on the first message in a thread, then click Move. This will move the entire thread to a new forum of your selection. If you click Move on anything other than the topmost message, you will be presented with the Move & Break screen. Breaking a thread splits it into two pieces, one of which is the message you selected and all the messages that derive from it, the other is all other messages in that thread. You can simply break the thread (by selecting the forum it is already in), or you can move and break it at the same time by selecting a different forum.
  • Delete - Selecting this will delete the message and all messages underneath of it. You will be given a confirmation dialog before the message is actually deleted. There is no undo, deletes are permanent!
  • Lock - You can prevent anyone from replying to a thread or a part of a thread by locking. If you lock the topmost message then no one will be able to reply to that thread at all.

Working with Users

You may lock or unlock user accounts. Attempting to lock an unregistered user will automatically create a new user account with that name and summarily lock it.

You can also click "Ban" to ban that user's IP address range. You will be prompted to enter a ban reason/description before continuing.

User Manager is a quick & easy way to search for users, but you can also use the Search function to find users. You can also use it to find posts by a specific user.

Bans & Such

To unban a user, click "Ban", then click the "Show Ban List" link. You will see all the entires in the ban list, along with a link next to each labeled "Unban". Just click that link to remove that entry from the list.

Groups

It is very important that you keep the default groups 0, 1, and 99999. You may then define as many groups as you like between 2 and 99998. It is recommended that you leave space between group numbers for growth or readjustment later.

Groups have associated name colors, but they are cached for performance reasons. Click the link provided to reload the name cache, but don't do it very often as it can impact performance.
